Shailesh Prakash is the Chief Information Officer of the The Washington Post. He is a member of the Post’s central executive team and runs the engineering groups for all aspects of the Washington Post’s digital, mobile, video, advertising and print support functions.

Shailesh has an extensive track record in senior technology positions spanning multiple industries. He began his career as a software engineer building compilers for Motorola's two-way pagers, moving to positions of increasing responsibility at Sun Microsystems and Netscape, where he designed and implemented enterprise-class J2EE application platforms, and Microsoft where he was a key member of and the Bing search engine. Prior to coming to The Washington Post he was the Vice President in charge of Technology for Sears Holdings, where he oversaw end-to-end digital operations for sears.com, kmart.com, mygofer.com, craftsman.com and kenmore.com, which collectively generate more than $3 billion in annual revenue. An engineer at heart and by training, Shailesh holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from IIT, Mumbai, a graduate degree in Computer Science from Clemson University, and an MBA from Georgia State University.
